Hi fiends!

First off thank you all for an incredible start to the campaign! Nearly 70% funded in just a few days!

We're so excited to bring Ben's work to playmats. He's one of our favorite artists. Arguably our favorite horror artist, and we've always thought his work would make such a cool addition to our favorite CCG's like M:tG.

I played M:tG for years, from 13 to early 20's. It's how I made all of my friends in college, it's what led to me getting my first job in tabletop games. Magic holds a special place in my heart. So, it's a huge honor to get to art direct for one of my favorite artists creating pieces inspired by one of my favorite games.

The newest piece: Infernal Gate

I want to talk a little bit about the Infernal Gate. The story behind this is pretty cool! It started off as "The Astral Portal" And went through several iterations before being abandoned for years.

This was the first and second iteration of it

So, this piece had been discontinued from N3 for years. Last year I was showing some of my art to my friend and fellow artist, Cody Cox. I told him I loved this pieces but would want to re-do it some day. Cody pipes in and goes "I challenge you to take 20 minutes and sketch over this a completely new story"

About 8 hours later I had fleshed out the basics of what's now "The Infernal Gate". It was the first time I had painted all year, and honestly I got so lost in the painting I just couldn't stop. I worked on it for a week straight. After that week I put it down and didn't touch it again for months. Finally, finishing it for this kickstarter.

Thank you again for your support! Let's keep the momentum going and please share this kickstarter out if you love Ben's work as much as we do.

Best,
